Board of Trustees

The Wonderseekers Board of Trustees provides strategic leadership and governance to the Charity. This ensures we achieve what we set out to do effectively and always in line with regulatory obligations. We’re very proud to have a passionate and committed Board of Trustees. Each trustee brings a wealth of diverse experience and specialist skills to their role here.

Toby King, Chair

Toby is from a medical family and, growing up in South East London, he was fascinated by how things worked. This led to a career in medical engineering, working for start-ups in the UK and Silicon Valley and founding companies  developing healthcare products.

Sara Sullivan, Deputy Chair

Sara is passionate about helping young people fulfil their potential. The first in her family to go to university, she saw how wealth, privilege and gender can shape careers. She went on to mentor at her old school and join a university initiative.

Dr Ian Jenkins

With an academic background in bio-technology research, Ian widened his interest and spent over 30 years working in technology and general management. This covered hardware and software design and broadcasting services.

Phyllida James

Phyllida qualified as a chartered accountant in 1984. After working in the profession for 20 years she moved to the financial services sector followed by the healthcare and telecoms sectors.

Tajinder Leonard

Tajinder has spent many years working in marketing and now heads the marketing and sales divisions at lighting brand, Anglepoise. As a member of the leadership team, she is also responsible for the company’s corporate social responsibility.

Adrian Owen

After a career in the City, Adrian spent 25 years as a commercial lawyer, including a role in central government. Since 2015, he has helped Hampshire County Council’s legal practice build new relationships across the wider public sector.

Sue Parr

Sue is Director of Education Opportunities at WMG at the University of Warwick and is passionate about formal and informal STEM learning. WMG focuses on STEM education from secondary school level to doctorates and corporate programmes.

Dr Janet Preston

Janet is an Astrophysicist at the University of Surrey and visiting Professor in the Business School. Janet also enjoyed a career as a Management Consultant specialising in Business Process Innovation, Programme Management and Change Management.

Katie Roberts

Katie has worked in the voluntary sector for over 20 years within charities on community development, environmental sustainability and social justice. Her expertise covers climate action and advocacy, environmental education, outreach and inclusion.

Dr Rutang Thanawalla

Rutang has been a trustee since October 2021 and is a member of the Charity's Financial, Audit and Risk Committee. He brings over 20 years' industry experience. He supports large financial institutions with risk measurement and management.
